Yellow Aster Butte, Cascades, Washington

We did this trail as a day hike but I wish we had had enough time to stay overnight. It’s across the valley from Mt Baker and has great views of the glacier clad volcano. The geology in this area is really interesting and there are lots of great little tarns to camp beside.

Access is up a forestry service road that should be ok for most vehicles. Check the road conditions on the Mt Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest website.

Round Trip: 11 km, 775 m elevation gain, 4-5 hours
