Konigsee, Berchtesgaden National Park, Germany

While staying in Salzburg for a few days, we took a bus to nearby Berchtesgaden National Park in Germany to take a boat across Konigsee (a lake) and a short hike around Obersee (a smaller lake) to Fischunkelalm, a little summer dairy farm that sells fresh milk and buttermilk from its cows in the nearby field. Konigsee is a dramatic and gorgeous lake amongst towering mountains, kind of like an inland fjord. The hike was more of a walk and very crowded, but still worth doing because of the great scenery and delicious fresh milk. Accessing the trail requires going on the boat tour from the village of Konigsee, close to the town of Berchtesgaden. There are many boats that leave throughout the day. Timetables are found here: https://www.seenschifffahrt.de/en/koenigssee/.

Tip: The bus from Salzburg was very crowded, even in late September, so renting a car or taking a train might be a better option.
