In late August of 2013, I hiked for 4 days across the Vanoise National Park in France. It’s a gorgeous section of the western Alps full of striking peaks, glaciers, meadows and high passes. There are alpine huts scattered throughout the park, so you could hike without a tent and stove. There are also many nearby villages to resupply in.
- Day 1: Val d’Isere – Col de la Leisse – Refuge Leisse
- Day 2: Refuge Leisse – Col de la Vanoise – Pralognan de la Vanoise
- Day 3: Pralognan de la Vanoise – Refuge Pleclet-Polset
- Day 4: Side trip from the refuge to Glacier de Gebroulaz, then back to the refuge – Col de Chaviere – Modane
