This is one of my favourite trails and I have hiked every time I’ve been to the Rockies. It’s a relatively undemanding trail that quickly gets you above the treeline to enjoy expansive views of the surrounding mountains, glaciers and the impressive Takakkaw Waterfall. I have always hiked it as an out-and-back day hike but it could easily be extended into an overnight trip that loops back down into the valley without any backtracking. It’s quite popular, so there will be lots of folks on the trail but there is a lot of room to get off the trail and get some solitude. Besides, you’ll be too busy enjoying the views to notice the people.
